Q1. Please introduce yourself. How would you describe yourself?

Hello, My name is Martin. I joined the Hyundai family in July 2009 and it’s been almost 5 years with HDC’s Dubai office.

After my graduation, I began my career as a Sales Executive in Bangalore (India) way back in 1998. It’s already my 11th year in Dubai, and ever since I have been working and living with my wife and two blessed kids.

What I am most proud of my resume is the fact that I have graduated with an MBA in Marketing at a highly ranked university. Moreover, given my rational attitude and personality, I tend to leave positive impression on others.

Q2. Please describe the country you currently work in.

Dubai is a very vibrant city that continuously receives a worldwide spotlight. It is especially famous for holding the most number of world records. Such records include a number of UAE attractions such as the world’s tallest building – Burj Khalifa, the world’s largest shopping mall – Dubai Mall. Other attractions include Palm Jumeirah (land reclaimed from the sea), Burj Al Arab (a luxury 7 star hotel), Ferrari world (the world’s largest theme park), Sheikh Zayed Mosque etc. Recently, Dubai has also been awarded the winning bid for the Expo 2020.

With such beautiful attractions, Dubai is certainly a wonderful tourist spot that annually attracts a large number of tourists especially during its winter season through November to March. Generally speaking, UAE boasts a tropical desert climate. However, lucky enough, we are currently in the winter season where the temperature is comparably moderate between 17 to 20 degrees Celsius. However during summer it can get extremely hot with an average temperature of 40 degrees, which can reach as far as 58 degrees in peak summer (Jun~Jul).

Despite being a Muslim monarchy nation; UAE follows far more liberal policies compared to other GCC nations. The majority of UAE’s 8.3 Million population are immigrants from India, Pakistan, Philippines and other Arab nationalities. That said, the locals only account for 11% of the total UAE population.

Q3. Could you please explain the tasks you are responsible for? Could you briefly outline your daily routine?

Given my 5 years of work experience at GCC and African markets managing Home Electronics, I was initially responsible for Electronics TM Licensing. However, ever since joining HDC, I have had the opportunity to participate in a wider range of tasks and divisions. These divisions include various businesses ranging from jet aviation fuel to polymer, green energy and electrical products. Also I assist tasks in Inorganic chemicals, Petroleum Products, Monomer, Construction Equipment, Plant, Rolling Stock and Automobile divisions. In short, I am supporting almost every major business, leaving aside the steel division. Accordingly, my daily routine is greatly influenced by my tasks; thus fulfilling the requirements set by the aforesaid divisions, meeting local and abroad clients, bidding in tenders and exploring new business partners are all part of my daily tasks. Moreover, attending exhibitions and & seminars are also important part of my daily routine.

Q4. When did you feel a big sense of achievement at Hyundai life? Please explain in detail.

The time when I felt most proud of myself is when I succeeded in my endeavors and when such attempts became a great contributor to my company. Such instances include moments back in 2010 when the 1st Etihad Airways fuel tender was awarded to us as well as in 2012 when NIKAI was appointed as our TM Agent for Saudi & Bahrain. These moments were especially memorable since they required a very tough and systematic negotiation process.

Q5. What do you usually do during your leisure time?

I personally enjoy listening to music. Also I share great interest in current affairs. Hence, regularly watching the news and debate programs also helps me relax. However frankly speaking, playing around with my two kids, Anju & Ousu is when I am probably the happiest.

Q6. What are your goals for the future?

My goal for the future is simple. To further improve my career by challenging myself to new responsibilities and challenges; while at the same time being a great contributor to my company’s future business growth.
