In October, our company had a motherland visit program for poor multicultural families and provided support funds. Park Yu-Ri who visited her family under the support of our company gave us her impressions on the visit in writing. Now let us introduce you the story of Park Yu-Ri who lives in Sinsan-ri, Haean-gun, Jeollanam-do with her husband and 4 sons and daughers.

Park Yu-Ri, who came from Philippines, met her husband and emigrate to Korea in 2001. Although her Korean life was not comfortable and she dreamed of a happy life with her husband doing farm works. However, despite of their hard works, debts began to accumulate and finally they went bankrupt. Since then, they devoted themselves to personal rehabilitation with 0.7 million won a month supported by the local support center in Haenam.
Meanwhile, Par Yu-Ri heard of a bad news from her homeland Philippines. Her old mother had an accident that broke her spine. She was eager to go there and she couldn’t afford to buy a airline ticket because of their difficult financial condition. She spent all night with tears because she could do anything for her mother.

in this October, her family heard a good news. Recommended by her husband’s company, A KBS TV program ‘Scence Report: Accompanier’ broadcasted her family’s story, and this made things got better. After the story of her family living together with comfort and encouragement in a difficult circumstance was broadcasted, a lot of people sponsored her family, and thanks to their support, she and her husband finally completed individual rehabilitation.

However, she was always sad and felt guilty about not visiting her old and sick mother. At that moment, the second luck came to her family. She selected as a participant of our company’s motherland visit program.
On 29th last month, Park Yu-Ri and her family, who had never visited her homeland for 9 years since 2003, had a 2-week visit in Philippines. Feeling so happy to meet her mother while she is still alive, Park Yu-Ri sent us a lettter of thanks with pictures taken during her family’s 2-week visit in Philippines. The full text of the letter is as follows.

It was the first time after 9 years. I’m happy I saw my mother again when she is still alive.

I got married in July, 2001 and visited Philipphines next year. Since then I never saw my mother for 9 years because I was so busy supporting my husband’s parents and raising 4 children as a housewife.

I was born as the last daughter among 3 sons and 3 daughers. My father died when I was 8 years old. Since then, my mother raised her 6 children alon. She used to weep saying she wanted to see her last daughter, and now her dream has come true thanks to Hyundai Corporation.

Heard of my visit to the homeland, my friends there wanted to see me. But I never left my mother alone during my 2-week visit in Philippines because I thought I might not be able to see my mother again. We spent all night to talk about many things I couldn’t tell my mother before including good and bad things of living in Korea and my husband and children.

Despite a difficult living condition, the second sister was supporting my mother. I saw my mother living a happy life with the sister’s husband working as a driver and the nephew helping his father financially.

I don’t know if I can visit Philippines again. But I was glad to visit my mother when she was still alive. I thank Hyundia Corporation for giving me such an opportunity. The visit to Philippines this time was also good for my children. Thnak you.

A KBS1 TV program will broadcast Park Yu-Ri family’s changed life including her family’s visit to Philippines. The program will be aired at 11:40pm on Nov. 29(Thu). *
